What's Green Bikes for Peace project?

The Green Bikes for Peace project was a 30-day-long biking tour crossing 5 countries, with youth participating. The aim of the trip was to draw attention to sustainability. Thus various programs and subprojects are organized before and during the trip, in order to demonstrate different aspects of sustainability in a creative way. Our project had many partners and sponsors. The detailed route and dates of the trip. The development of the project can be followed in the diary!

History of the Donauauen, with frogs and snakes

Donauauen with the best guide ever - thanks Barbara

We cycled out from Vienna through the Donauinsel, left behind the oil tanks of Vienna to enter the National Park of Donauauen, which had had a fabulous history. The weather was really nice for cycling, the routes a little less suitable because of the flood. We almost arrived on time to Orth, led by Roland, where the display centre of the National Park waited for us, represented by our guide, ranger Barbara, who was really entertaining. In the evening we had a real barbecue in nature, followed by a big sleep, welcomed by everyone.

bike against pollution

1. Orth - wonderland

I was really amazed by the wonderful landscape of the National Park. In addition, I am always impressed by the imagination of the organisers of exhibitions. When I was a child, a museum meant an endless boredom. But now I enjoy going to a museum and looking forward to the experiences I will face there. "Interactive"- such a short word, and it means a change in thinking, in attitude. I bet from a pedagogical point of view what we experience in such a place are interiorised much more than a display we are not actively take part in.
Another plus was Barbara, the ranger. It was great to see such enthusiasm, we could really see she enjoys her work enormously.
